Huntington’s Disease Society of America “Northeast Ohio Celebration of Hope” in Mayfield Heights

Annual Celebration of Hope “Bourbon Ball”
Landerhaven Event Center in Mayfield, Ohio

The Moonlight Serenaders are honored to be part of this wonderful annual fund raiser, providing the dinner and dance music for three consecutive years at the beautiful Landerhaven Event Center. Working closely with Chapter President, Jesse Lis and Emcee, Chuck Dukas, the band created a special program of instrumental and vocal music spanning generations of favorite tunes for dining and dancing.

The elegant evening was attended by a multitude of area business and philanthropy leaders that support the organization and look forward to this annual banquet and fund raiser. The evening began with an hour of dinner music, performing the ever popular music of Henry Mancini, George Gershwin, Cole Porter and other popular standards.

“THE SERENADERS”…in performance. Always a professional orchestra dedicated to providing every client a musical mixture of music for dining, dancing and background music. Their Great American Song Book of music provides recognizable music, appreciated by all age groups and generations.

The Moonlight Serenaders Big Band consists of a core group of saxophone, trombone and trumpet professionals all bringing a gifted talent and years of experience in performing all types of music. However the Big Band sounds of the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s are among the band’s most favorite to perform. Glenn Miller would be proud of this band.

The band’s Rhythm Section provides the foundation for the entire band, combining the rhythmic and harmony elements supporting the instrumental soloists and vocal artists. Shauna Knight, Keyboards, Tim Coerver, Bass, Dennis Ingram, Drums, and Karl Dustman, Vibraphone and Percussion.

The Serenaders Sisters bring a vocal artistry reminiscent of the big band vocal sections like the McGuire Sisters and the Andrew Sisters. Specialty tunes included, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Rum and Coca Cola, Apple Blossom Time and others.

Vocalist Don Howdyshell brings his velvet voice to the band’s feature tunes which included Tangerine, Fly Me To The Moon and The Summer Wind.

Soloist Miranda Rose brings foot tapping array of music she performs with the band including Sunny Side of the Street and the always-requested, As Time Goes by.

The vibraphone is an instrument not commonly found performing with a traditional Big Band. Introduced primarily as a Jazz instrument by Lionel Hampton performing with the Benny Goodman orchestra, “Vibes” brings a whole new dimension of melody, harmony and rhythm supporting the band and the vocalists. Vibes, orchestra bells and an array of percussion accessories brings a professional orchestral element to the band and rhythm section.

Drummer Dennis Ingram has performed with many different big bands over decades of playing in and around Northeast Ohio. He knows all the tunes by heart and has held the “drum chair” position since 2012.

Plans are already in development for the 2023 HUNTINGTON DISEASE SOCIETY OF AMERICA Northeast Ohio Chapter, Annual Celebration of Hope performance in November of 2023.
