The 2022 summer season of performances for the Moonlight Serenaders kicked-off Saturday, May 28th with a near capacity attendance at the Summit County Annual Lincoln Day Dinner and Fundraiser held once again at the beautiful Quaker Station Event Center in downtown Akron. Perfect weather with mild temperatures set the evening off to a great start.
The band’s second consecutive year of performing for this group, we selected an assortment of Big Band standards from the Great American Song Book as background cocktail-hour and dinner music. The stage was set for the official Lincoln Day program to begin, featuring the Keynote Address by Ohio Governor Michael DeWine.
Completed with the introductions of all dignitaries and guest speakers, the evening opened up for some serious Big Band Swing tunes that got everyone on their feet. Leave it to In The Mood, String of Pearls and other favorites to provide musical entertainment and a spectacular conclusion to another Summit County Lincoln Day event. Plans are already developing for the 2023 Lincoln Day program in March of 2023 and the return of the Moonlight Serenaders Big Band as the featured music provider.
